The symbolism behind this is absolutely vital to why I chose a peacock. Peacocks, as many of us know, are symbols of beauty. However, when researching these creatures, you find out that when they call/make noise, it's not exactly the most appealing sound ever--it's quite an ugly sound in fact, compared to many other bird calls. Personally, I relate completely to the peacock in this sense. I've struggled verbally with expression for quite some time, and I'm still battling it. Rarely ever, or perhaps never, do I ever feel like I'm portraying how I feel to other people in a way they can relate or understand, and it's such a painful and ugly feeling knowing that no matter which order I place my words, my message to others is still gray matter. In some very dark situations, (when I have bad panic attacks and the like), it even physically hurts me to speak.

Because the peacock's voice is so ugly, it's message is carried visually. This is exactly how I hope to portray what it is I feel, think, want, believe--through visual expression, my artwork.

The male peacock is pictured here because those are the ones with the most exquisite, luxurious, colorful, and elaborate feather patterns.

That is one of the most visually stunning tattoos I have ever seen. The colors and the movement are pitch-perfect. And of course, I've got to ask: what could the inspiration for such a lovely tattoo be?

Like a shark.

"Yes, except with less fins and on land."
Wow, thank you! I'm SO happy to hear that. The artist who did this is absolutely full to the rim with talent, it's incredible. Her name is Kim. She was on an episode of Miami Ink when they were searching for Kat Von D's replacement. If you're curious to see her work, you can either ask me to send you a link to the episode or I can give you this link to her MySpace page:

As for my inspiration, I decided to just write that above in the 'artist's comments' area. :)
I've decided to just describe the symbolism of my tattoo above in the 'artist's comments' area. Also, thank you so much! <33
Oooh it's so pretty! Isn't Kim on LA Ink with Kat now? That's so awesome you got a tattoo from one of them, they are amazing!

I can't tell what part of your body it's on though, your back maybe? I love all the color, what a beautiful way to express yourself ^.^
